Dental Bridge in Gardena, CA
What is Dental Bridge

What Is Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration that fills in the open space created by a missing tooth. Either end goes over a healthy tooth or a dental implant on either side of the gap, suspending an artificial crown between them. The ends act like functional crowns, with the artificial pontic tooth bonded in the middle. Our dentist generally recommends bridges to replace one or two teeth at a time, so long as there are stable teeth on either side to support them. An implant-supported bridge can replace as many as three or four teeth at once.

The Benefits of Dental Bridge

Restored Smile

Bridges effectively replace the missing teeth in your smile, restoring the natural appearance of your grin and giving your everyday confidence a noticeable lift.

Easier Chewing

Filling in the gaps left behind by missing teeth lets you chew your food properly and speak clearly again, which improves your overall oral function every single day.

Facial Structure

Missing teeth allow the facial muscles to sag and age you prematurely, and a well-made dental bridge helps maintain the natural shape of your face and your jaw.

Prevented Shifting

Remaining teeth drift out of place when a gap goes unfilled for too many years, and a bridge blocks that movement in order to preserve your natural bite alignment.

Our Step-by-Step Process

From your first exam to the final result, here's exactly what to expect — calm, clear, and never rushed.

Request an Appointment
  1. 01

    Consultation Exam

Our dentist evaluates the gap, checks the supporting teeth on either side, and confirms which type of bridge will best suit your own situation.

  2. 02

    Tooth Preparation

We numb and prep the supporting teeth so that a fixed restoration is able to fit over them both comfortably and very securely in place on top.

  3. 03

    Impressions Taken

We take impressions and record a shade match for our dental lab so that your finished bridge matches all of the natural teeth all around it.

  4. 04

    Temporary Crown

A temporary crown covers the prepped teeth to reduce any sensitivity or irritation while your permanent bridge is being created for you in our lab.

  5. 05

    Permanent Placement

About two weeks later, you return to have the permanent bridge cemented into place, and your newly bonded bridge is completely non-removable.

Signs You May Need Dental Bridge

Missing Teeth

You have one or two missing teeth in a row, with stable and healthy teeth still standing on either side of that open gap in the middle of your smile.

Denture Alternative

You would prefer a fixed alternative to a partial denture, one that stays in your mouth rather than coming out at the end of every single night.

Shifting Teeth

Your remaining teeth have started drifting toward the open space, which throws your bite alignment further off with each and every passing year.

Crowns Needed

The teeth on either side of the gap also need dental crowns, so a single bridge reinforces them as it replaces the missing tooth between them.

Types of Dental Bridges in Gardena

Which design suits you comes down to the teeth on either side of the gap. Our dentist will walk you through the options at your consultation.

Traditional Bridges

These fixed restorations are the most common type of bridge design that we offer. Either side is attached to a stable, healthy tooth, suspending one or two pontic teeth between them.

Cantilever Bridges

When there is not a healthy tooth on both sides of the missing tooth, a cantilever bridge offers a single tooth-supported alternative. These artificial teeth are attached to the side of a functional dental crown, which is then set on top of the surviving adjacent tooth.

Maryland Bridges

A Maryland bridge is a replacement crown with small extensions that span out on either side of it. These “wings” are bonded behind the neighboring teeth, rather than reducing the shape of those teeth to cover them with a crown. Maryland bridges work well for front missing teeth, children, or temporary purposes before dental implant treatment.

Implant Bridges

An implant-supported dental bridge can replace multiple teeth at one time, as either end of the bridge is set on top of a dental implant. Up to four teeth in a row can be restored using only two dental implants.

  • 5 out of 5 stars. “My first visit to Gardena Dental Group was most pleasant. I was fearful because I am not a fan of needles, drills or that burning smell that lingers after root canals and crowns. In spite of this, I was assured by a wise woman who had been a patient for several years - along with her husband -, that this would be, "The BEST Decision I Would Make Today." Thankfully, she was right 💐 Upon arrival, I was assisted by Jessica who aided me through the paperwork as well as my treatment plan and next appointment. Soon after completing the paperwork, I was called in for my x-rays and consultation. I was elated to hear that I only needed a permanent crown (to replace the temporary one I had from a previous dental procedure) and a filling on the opposite side. Tatiana and Dr. Tounian were Knowledgeable and Compassionate throughout my consultation; this made it easy to ask questions about the treatment plan and how to continue keeping my smile healthy and bright 😁 My second visit was even better than the first. I was taken through the procedures I was to have, asked if I had any questions or concerns, then the assistant made preparations for the Doctor to work his magic 🪄 I was elated by the timely manner, professionalism and care taken by the entire Dental Team (knowing how nervous I was about the needle - for numbing the area - and the drill for the crown & filling). I fell asleep a few times during the process, that's how comfortable I was 😊 I look forward to returning to get fitted for my permanent crown and later my mouth guard to prevent teeth grinding. I Love My New Dentist and His Extraordinary Team ✨” — ALIKANDRIA
  • 5 out of 5 stars. “This is a great office. I went in to discuss an implant, but unfortunately, I didn't have enough bone for the procedure. However, I did get a bridge, and now I can finally eat properly. Many thanks to Dr. Armen, Assistant Maria, and Vanessa for their help!” — Luis
  • 5 out of 5 stars. “I came here to fix my crown but it wasn’t able to be fixed. So they suggested 3 options: Dental implant, bridge, or a retainer with a tooth. I chose an implant but it’s very pricey so Vanessa who’s in charge of finance and payment helped me decide and find the best solution for me so i’m really happy and content with my decision. I’m very thankful I had Vanessa to help with payments and Abigail for making me feel welcome. Thank you Gardena Dental Group.” — Abigail

Can you get a dental bridge for a front tooth?

Yes, cosmetic dental bridges replace missing front teeth and are designed to match the teeth on either side. A Maryland bridge is often a good option in that part of the smile.

How long do dental bridges last?

Like crowns, a well-cared-for dental bridge can last 5 to 15 years in most cases. Good oral hygiene is essential to reaching the longer end of that range.

What is recovery like after a dental bridge?

Minor irritation in the days after your appointment is not uncommon, since the supporting teeth were adjusted and the nerves are more tender than normal. This typically improves within a few days or no more than a couple of weeks.

How much does a dental bridge in Gardena, CA, cost?

The price depends on the materials used, the number of teeth affected, and whether dental implants are involved. Most bridges range between $500 and $1,500 per tooth.

Does insurance cover a dental bridge in Gardena, CA?

Insurance benefits can offset a portion of the cost, though the amount varies from plan to plan. We provide a detailed treatment plan outlining all fees and estimated benefits before you schedule.
